Embark on a special journey with photographer Krisztina Scheeff to discover the avian diversity of Peru, a country renowned for its varied landscapes and rich history. This 9-day program begins in vibrant Lima and nearby coastal areas before continuing to the Andean highlands, home to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the famed Machu Picchu archaeological complex. Seek out and photograph some of the region's hundreds of species in habitats ranging from wetlands and lagoons to Andean cloud forests and high-elevation Polylepis forest. Along the way, trace the history of the Inca Empire and the deep connection to nature that influences modern-day Peruvian culture. All skill levels are welcome!

• Capture compelling images of some of the 400-plus avian species found in the Machu Picchu complex — arguably the best-known and most spectacular archaeological site on the continent — and surrounding areas.
• Bird along the winding, high-elevation Abra Málaga Pass and look for species like the Royal Cinclodes, Ash-breasted Tit-Tyrant, Rust-and-yellow Tanager, Creamy-crested Spinetail, and Giant Conebill.
• Board a boat and discover the coastal cliffs and harbor of a picturesque fishing village in search of Inca Tern, Peruvian Booby, Belcher's Gull, and Humboldt Penguin.
• Visit the family-run Ensifera Camp hummingbird sanctuary, where more than two dozen hummingbird species have been recorded.
• Seek out and photograph a variety of Andean species at Huacarpay Lagoon, one of the region's most popular birding spots.
• Go birding at Pantanos de Villa, a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance that provides critical habitat for waterfowl and reed-dwelling species like the Many-colored Rush Tyrant and Plumbeous Rail.
